Buddy Button Ø64 mm Red *Normally Closed* switch - Clearance

The AbleNet Buddy Button Normally Closed (NC) in red is a special version of the classic Buddy Button, equipped with a Normally Closed contact instead of the standard Normally Open (NO) principle. The Ø64 mm activation surface provides a large and easily accessible operating area.

Within wheelchair control systems, a Normally Closed switch is often used as an on/off button or emergency stop function. The safety advantage of an NC switch is that, in the event of a disconnected cable, wire break, or faulty connection, the function is automatically interrupted. In practice, this means that the wheelchair will always switch off in such a situation, offering an additional layer of safety when the switch is also considered an emergency stop.

To use a Normally Closed switch, it is generally necessary to adjust the software programming of the wheelchair control system or interface so that the reversed switching logic is correctly supported. This makes this version particularly suitable for professional configurations within rehabilitation and assistive technology applications.

This Buddy Button is based on the older Buddy Button model and does not feature interchangeable color caps (in contrast to the newer Buddy Button IC). The red color is fixed and not interchangeable.

The switch is equipped with a 3.5 mm mono plug and is compatible with most switch interfaces, wheelchair modules, and communication aids.
