Buddy Button IC switch Ø64 mm (incl. interchangeable color caps)

The AbleNet Buddy Button IC is a reliable and versatile momentary switch with a large Ø64 mm activation surface, ideal for users who benefit from a wide target area or have limited precision. The switch provides responsive tactile and auditory feedback and is activated with low force (217 gram), making it suitable for users with limited motor strength.

The Buddy Button IC is widely used within AAC solutions (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), allowing users to control communication devices, software, or environmental functions through one or more switches. It is also commonly applied in powered wheelchair control systems, particularly for alternative access methods.

In combination with an Omni system, the Buddy Button IC can make multiple wheelchair functions accessible through a single switch, such as switching between drive modes, controlling actuators, or accessing secondary functions. The switch is also suitable for use with RBI modules (Remote Button Interface), providing an easy and accessible way to operate external wheelchair functions, supporting user independence.

Compared to earlier Buddy models, which were supplied as separate color variants, the Buddy Button IC now comes with multiple interchangeable color caps as standard. This eliminates the need to stock multiple color versions and makes a single switch directly usable for multiple users and situations, simplifying inventory management and broadening applicability for care institutions and professional suppliers.

Despite the large activation surface, the switch has a compact design and can easily be mounted on a table, wheelchair, or other surfaces. With a standard 3.5 mm mono connector, the Buddy Button IC is compatible with most switch interfaces, wheelchair modules, and communication devices.
